Happy Veterans Day to all that served, we all put our
lives at risk, our time dedicated to the country's wishes,
and our health in danger.

I especially thank my fellow Marines, brothers in arms.
But also thanks to those in the Navy, they always took me
where they were supposed to, and fed me just fine.
Also great thanks for the Air Force who also transported
me and delivered ordinance near us.
And always thankful for the Army who were ready with
great numbers to help us out.

Thanks to all!

I didn't have it so bad. The Army gave me a good electronics education, made
me an E-5 so I could act independently, and sent me to Germany to fly or
drive around that beautiful country on repair missions. Otherwise I was on
call so I had to be able to drop whatever I was doing. I became the post
photographer, USO liaison and learned repair in the motor pool, plus was the
token well-behaved enlisted man at officers' functions like a banquet at
Heidelberg Castle.

For the first 2 weeks or so when I was in the photo lab there would be a
knock on the door, I'd open it to a black face, he'd see my white face and
silently leave. The previous black occupant had been a big time drug dealer
which explained the long row of empty cabinets.

I knew enough German to get along. Most Americans didn't and outside cities
the Germans didn't speak English or particularly need American money, so our
troops were left out of society to the extent that some re-uped to get back
to Nam.

I still thank you, and honor your for your service.

I enjoyed my time in the USMC. I appreciated my tour
of Pacific South-east Asia. I learned, and grew.
